Search the web application
Global search finds accessible records without first opening their module. The manual's search finds instructions instead.
Requirements and permissions
Sign in to the correct workspace. Available record types and results depend on the product, enabled modules and your read permissions. Search does not grant additional record access.
Where to find it
Open Search in the top navigation; small screens display a magnifying-glass icon. Ctrl+K on Windows or ⌘+K on a Mac opens or closes the dialog. Outside input fields, / also opens search.
Step by step
- Open search and enter at least two characters. Use a name, number or another distinctive term.
- Wait for results. Matches are grouped by record type; use the available type filters to narrow the list.
- Check the title and context before opening a result. Longer result lists load additional matches as you scroll.
- Click a result or select it with the arrow keys and Enter. The keyboard hint in the dialog explains how to open a result in a new tab.
- Close search with its close icon or the indicated keyboard actions to continue in your previous view.
The question mark in the search dialog opens this guide, keeping the search query and dialog in place.
insideBase
Web search covers available workspace features. CRM leads, customers, deals and real estate are outside the insideBase feature set. Native mobile search has its own feature scope; see Mobile work views.
Result
The selected record opens in its module. That module's editing permissions and required fields still apply.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Next step |
|---|---|
| One character returns no results | Enter at least two characters. |
| A record is missing | Check spelling, type filters, workspace and read permissions; search within its module if needed. |
| An entire record type is missing | Check the product and enabled modules. |
| Search does not load | Check the connection, close the dialog and reopen it. Record repeated error messages. |
| You need instructions | Use manual search or the task index. |
